Yorkshire Dressage Competition Results

On 29th January we had a trip to Yorkshire Dressage with four horses, liverys from the yard & Ike! It is a great venue for us as it only takes about half an hour to get there! It was slightly unfortunate for Kelly and her back tho as there is a lot of gravel there and Ike has sore paws so he had to be carried for some of it (all 5stone of him!) that was after he had chewed through his lovely leather lead :-/

Naughty Ike!

First up was Will Buck riding Shannondale Prophet (Ivan) in the Prelim and the Novice. Ivan’s most favourite thing is Cross Country so he finds dressage quite tedious but with time, patience and training by both Will and Becky he is really starting to show a talent for the dressage arena. Apart from a mistake in the right canter in the first test Will rode two very nice tests. We were slightly disappointed with the marking from the judge, but thats dressage!

Next in was Diane Vardey riding Thacka Playboy aka Nico. Diane bought Nico 18months ago and turned his hoofs from driving to dressage! Diane had a really good day competing in both Novice classes scoring 68.75%  in the first test, and 62.58% with a slightly spooky 2nd test. But we were very impressed with both Diane and Nico 🙂

Diane & Nico!

2 horses down 2 to go – Becky was next in the Elementary on Josie’s Don Angelo or Donald as we call him! He was rather fresh on the wagon as it was the first time we had him out but he soon settled once Becky was on board. They scored an amazing 77.58% with, as you can imagine a lovely test! It was then Josies turn to ride Donald after proving what a good boy he was, so in the 2nd Elementary Josie also rode a great test and scored 72.05% – hopefully this is a sign of things to come as Josie and Donald make a wonderful combination!

Last but not least Sam Brown rode Royal Alliance in both Elementarys gaining 2 great scores of 73.79% and 67.64% (even with a slight error of course and a couple of swear words under her breath!) 😉

A great day was had by all – espescially by Ike!

Addington High Profile Show Report

After having ‘one of those weeks’ and getting over the disappointment of Hannah and Becky not being shortlisted for any classes on their advanced horses, Becky, Emma, Eilidh and Ryan travelled down to Addington with Dot (Madam’s Miss Maria), Feo (Furst Diamantino), Crumble (Comanche Crumble) and Charlie (Charlex Eskebjerg) .

Things were starting to look up on the first day when Becky competed Dot in the Medium and came 4th with 68.38% to Michael Eilberg, Charlie Hutton and Andrew Gould – check out Dot holding her own against the big boys in a class of 25 🙂

Eilidh had a great show gaining 2 top 3 placings and 3 top 10 placings, breaking the 70% mark twice! Her results are as follows:

Advanced Medium 70% – placed 3rd

PSG 67.32% – placed 7th

YR Team Test 70.92% – placed 2nd

PSG 67.71% – placed 8th

PSG Freestyle – 67% – placed 5th

What a fantastic start to the season this is for Eilidh – well done 🙂

Eilidh & Crumble!

Emma had a really good show with Feo who is a ‘special’ horse in every sense of the word 🙂 and certainly keeps Emma on her toes!

Her results started well and then built up to the grand finale of 1st place, as below:

Advanced Medium 68.15% – placed 8th

PSG 65.57% – placed 10th

YR Team Test 64.34% – placed 9th

PSG 64.95% – placed 18th

YR Individual Test 68.42% – placed 1st 🙂

Another excellent start to the year!

Emma & Feo!

Harriette Williams rode Dot in the Pony Team Test (as we did not think Becky could get away with being able to compete in this class :-)) and Harriette did an amazing job and scored 68.46% gaining 4th place after only having ridden her several times! Well Done!

Ryan and Charlie had a really good first show, gaining lots of experience riding the more advanced tests.  Ryan has only competed upto Medium so was thrown in at the deep end at a High Profile Show and only having ridden Charlie for a month beforehand. So lots of smiley faces all round 🙂

Ryan & Charlie looking very smart!

Julie Lockeys 10 year old Weltgeist gelding Wallenstein surpassed expectations at Hartpury CDI, where he finished 3rd in the PSG, 1st (yes – FIRST) in the Inter 1 and 2nd in the Inter 1 Freestyle. Good boy Wally 🙂
Julie bought Wally 6 years ago and he has been based with Becky since then. He has had a very successful career, from young horse classes through to Inter 2 this year.
His tests at Hartpury were rewarded for their correctness and consistency, with his Inter 1 gaining well over 70% from 2 international judges, yay!!
His freestyle finished on a score of 73.625, with Top German judge Peter Holler awarding him 71% for the technical side and 79% for the artistic 🙂 🙂
Thanks again to Julie and trainer David Hunt, who has helped Becky improve this horse so much!

Carinsio Wins BD 4yr old National Championships at Hartpury

The legend that is Jack Jack Moody-Lockey continued his fine form with a fantastic win in the Shearwater sponsered BD Young Horse National Championships at Hartpury last month. The Painted Black gelding is owned by Julie Lockey and Anne and Patrick Moody. Bought by Julie as a yearling he has been based on the Moody yard since last summer.
He finished with a score of 82.4%, with an 8.5 for his general impression and very consistent marks for all three paces 🙂
In the prize givings he demonstrated his pretty awesome talent for passage and Becky’s equally awesome talent for adopting a secure ‘hunting seat’ 🙂
Becky would like to take this opportunity to thank her fabulous owners and her brilliant support team of grooms, vets, physios and farrier etc, as well as trainer extraodinaire David Hunt and sub-trainer Hannah Moody 🙂

Freedom Dressage Bit Bank

Moody Dressage has teamed up with Freedom Dressage to create a bit testing service – you can come and have a lesson using one of the Sprenger Bits that we have here from Freedom Dressage. It’s a great opportunity to see how your horse goes in a variety of different bits, and to be able to pick the one that suits best. We have a good selection of weymouths, snaffles and bradoons.

Julie Lockey

Julie is Hannah and Becky’s patron extraordinare!
Without her support neither of us would have our main competition rides – Wallenstein, Caluna and Fursten Hit are all Julie’s horses.
Four years ago Julie started a breeding programme at her home in West Yorkshire. She now has a number of super broodmares, and is putting them to quality stallions such as Sandro Hit, Hotline, and Zac to name a few.
Julie is committed to producing these youngsters to 4yr olds, and the first batch are now reaching that age, so it’s all getting very exciting!

Four of the gorgeous two year olds and yearlings and at home in the field.
