Moody Dressage will have a British Dressage Apprenticeship place available from mid February.
Our yard offers a very supportive and educational environment for anyone wanting to gain more experience in the world of dressage. We are very proud of all of our previous apprentices, who with out exception are all pursuing a successful dressage career.
Applicants need to be good team players (we are a relatively small yard and it is very important that we all get on well!)
You must want to live on site as we will need you to be responsible for some evening yard duties.
You must be a brave and fairly competent rider (good balance, sensitive) as your duties will include starting young horses off, and hacking out horses that can be fresh and quite sharp.
Having your own transport is pretty essential as we live about 3 miles from the nearest shops!
If you are successful at interview we would also require you to work a two week trial period. If you are interested please send an email with CV.

Homebred 16.3hh, 4 years old, bay mare by Furst Romancier, out of a Don Schufro mare.
This eyecatching horse has 3 super gaits with a fantastic hind leg. Laney has won the qualifer for the Shearwater Young Horse Championships at Hartpury & has qualified for the Nationals in the 4 year old YH Class! She gets super comments from the judges and from everyone who sees her!
She has a great temperament, is very trainable and straightforward, enjoys hacking out and is good to do in all ways. A real star for the future.
We are excited to annouce that Becky will be one of the riders taking part in the British Dressage National Convention with Adelinde Cornelissen. Becky will be riding the wonderful Carinsio 🙂
We would just like to thank all the BYRDS riders and their parents for coming to the one day course last Saturday. A One Day is helpful as it is easier to fit them in. The groups were friendly and the riders were encouraged to comment on each other.

Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) is delighted to announce that Becky Moody will join the exciting line up of top British riders due to compete in the inaugural Mount St John Dressage Future Elite Championship on Wednesday 9 October at Birmingham’s NEC. The competition will provide the perfect opportunity for the riders to show that their up-and-coming grand prix horses have what it takes to join the world’s dressage elite.
Becky enjoyed a very successful dressage career as a young rider, competing at four U21 European Championships. She also has a number of national championship titles under her belt. Most recently, Becky was placed third in the Intermediate I Freestyle to Music test at the Espayo National Dressage Championships; the same test that each combination will perform in the Andrews Bowen International Arena at HOYS.
The Mount St John Dressage Future Elite Championship will mark the exciting recurrence of competitive dressage at HOYS. And with three world-renowned judges, 9,500 spectators and inspiring canter pirouettes and flying changes set to empowering music, what a return it will be.
All seven horses will be working between advanced Medium and intermediate I level, and aged between seven and 10. Becky will ride Josie Gyllensward’s eight-year-old chestnut gelding Don Angelo. She will compete alongside Sarah Millis, Emile Faurie, Michael Eilberg, Spencer Wilton, Dan Greenwood and Alice Oppenheimer.
Charlotte Dujardin will no longer be competing, due to a last-minute sale of the horse she was intending to ride. The World number one and multiple gold medallist will, however, still attend HOYS on Wednesday 9th October to receive a special award during the presentation of the Mount St John Dressage Future Elite Championship Awards.
With 6 horses at the Nationals, and several clients competing as well it was a very busy 4 days! All the horses were on their best behaviour, even the babies Nora and Lainey who have never stayed away from home settled in well and were true professionals!
On Thursday and Friday it was just Don Angelo competing in the PSG and the Inter 1. Donald made a couple of mistakes in the PSG as he was quite ‘hot’ so Becky had to ride him tactfully, still scoring 70.55% in a big tough class to come in 9th place. Still quite excited by the atmosphere of the Nationals on the Friday Donald got 69.58% and 7th place to take them through to the music on Saturday 🙂 Donald finally chilled out and performed a fantastic Inter 1 Freestyle to Dr Who (kindly borrowed from Wally :-)) This took him into 3rd place with 74.35% very closely behind 1st and 2nd place.

Elildh Grant who trains with Hannah also had a great show getting through to the Inter 1 Freestyle and coming 5th in the class with 73.55%
Saturday was an early start with both Nora and Lainey in the 4 year old class. Both horses performed super, obedient tests. The scores were generally quite low in the class with the winner scoring 7.68, Nora came 8th and Lainey came 10th so overall they did very well! (Pics to follow as it was far too early for our fan club members to be taking pictures :-))
Jack and Dot both competed in the Medium Open class with Becky where the competition was fierce! A bit of tension in both cost them the higher marks, Jack came away 6th and Dot 12th a little disappointing but onwards & upwards!
It was Caluna’s turn in the afternoon for the Grand Prix, a mistake in the 1’s cost them many marks. Once Caluna is established at this level she will be fantastic as she has an amazing ability to piaffe and passage 🙂
Onto Sunday and it was Jack and Dot on again, Jack in the Elementary and Dot in the Advanced Medium! Jack performed a much better test until a very unfortunate incident happened on the final centre line. As Jack was coming to his final halt he stepped into a double tie wrap cable (which had been left from a previous exhibition) and it ended up around his left hind leg, he quite rightly was worried about it and leapt into the air off the centre line, poor Becky could not understand what was going on and managed to get him back onto the centre line for his final halt, which he stood very well for. The judges then noticed the tie wrap around his leg and removed it straight away in the arena. The movement should really have been performed again but then it was too late, there were mixed marks for that movement which unfortunately cost them 1st place as she ended up 2nd by just 0.18%.

Last but certainly not least Dot stole the show, as standing at just 14.hh she trotted into the arena to perform her Advanced Medium test with Becky and got an ‘aaaawwww’ and a round of applause! It really was a great test including lovely expressive changes 🙂 and got a big cheer at the end! They just missed out on 70% to get 69.11% and coming 5th against some big top class horses!

We have had Quaver since he was 6 months old, and he is now 4yrs old, and going very sweetly! He is very pretty, about 12.2hh, moves very nicely, and will make someone a lovely pony, whether they want to show, do dressage or pony club. He hacks and has jumped a little.
He is for sale for £2500. I would also loan him, but only to a loving, experienced, competitive home, and I would need good refernces!

Edna is our own pony, out of our amazing mare Madam’s Miss Maria, by the top pony stallion Ceaser 171. She is 4yrs old, and stands about 14hh. She has a fantastic temperament, and as you would expect with her bloodlines, she has amazing movement. She hacks out, and is working well in the school, and has started a bit of leg yield and shoulder in. She is a really lovely pony to ride, and feels more like a 6 year old than a four year old to sit on – very rideable and trainable.
She is for sale at £9750. (We would possibly consider a half sell to a very good and competitive home only).

‘I’m actually really thrilled with him. We had a lesson with Dan Sherriff who made us both work REALLY hard, and I thought I’d collapse when I got off, then one with Simon Battram and two with John, all in the same week, as that was just how their diaries worked. It was quite a week for us both, but Simon told me that in his opinion Lux would go GP easily and then John said that he thought he could well go international – WOW. Of course, that would be with a top rider, not me, but even so, I think that’s amazing. I knew I had a good one, so no, you can’t have him back – sorry!’
