Kwadraat wltm lady (or gentleman) looking for happy times :)

Our amazing 21 year old superstar is looking for a very special person to share his riding/grooming/cuddling etc. with Linzi Warren who rides him 2 days a week, and competes him very successfully at PSG level.

Keeping a horse on our yard is not cheap (all our horses are looked after amazingly by our team of staff, and live a life of luxury in our superb facilities), and Kwad will not be leaving the yard, but would like someone to enjoy the experience of riding and caring for him, and to take on responsibilities for some of his expenses. We already do this with our other old superstar Jordi, and the cost of a days ride is somewhere between £25 and £30 (this covers all his day to day expenses and a contribution to insurance, shoeing and veterinary costs). It would also be compulsory to have a lesson a week which would cost £40.

Kwad is a lovely horse, he is very straight forward, hacks out, is very easy to handle, but he is very bouncy to ride, so if you want to be able to do sitting trot you do have to be fairly supple and well balanced!

Supreme Young Horse Champion

It has to be said that Anne & Patrick Moody’s and Julie Lockey’s Carinsio aka Jack Jack Moody-Lockey has been the star of the Young Horse classes for the last 3 years. He has won just about everything 🙂 He started as he meant to go on as a 4 year old, continued his winning streak as a 5 year old and finished on a high this year at Hickstead in the 6 year olds winning both the National and the International title!

We are extremely lucky to have a horse like Jack on the yard (if not a little stressful at times!) and we really do have some super up and coming young horses to hopefully follow in Jack’s footsteps (no pressure then!)

Jack along with Caluna, Donald, Dot, Nora and Elaina will be competing at the Nationals so we will be there from Wednesday evening thru to Sunday! Come and say ‘Hi’ if you see us!

Delilah is a gorgeous homebred 16hh, 5 year old, dark bay mare by Sandro Hit. Big, uphill paces, with an amazing canter, super trot and huge walk. She has a fantastic temperament in and out of the stable, loves lots of attention and enjoys hacking out.

This quality horse is ready to be taken up through the levels.

We are offering Delilah on loan to an experienced, loving, competitive home where she can fulfill her potential. She will not pass a 5 stage vetting although is very sound! Delilah does also crib.

5* approved home only as she is loved very much.

If you are interested please call Kelly on 07709 338755 to discuss further.

Jack Rules @ Regionals!

Becky and Jack competed at Somerford Park Regionals last week, along with Kirsty riding Patrick and Ryan riding Charlie. Overall it was a very successful show, with rather tense moments as Jack was quite sharp to say the least!

jack moo 2

Becky and Jack took both the Elementary Open and the Medium Open titles to take them through to the Nationals in September 🙂

Ryan and Charlie did very well ending up in third place in both the PSG and the Inter 1. A couple of little mistakes in both tests cost them qualifiyng for the Nationals but fingers crossed they might get a wild card with scores of 68.73% and 70.22%.

Kirsty had a disappointing Advanced Medium on Patrick, he secretly gets quite nervous and backs off in the test but her second test in the Medium was much much better and scored 67.57% to ge them 4th place.

Hartpury Festival of Dressage

We had a mixed show at Hartpury, but it started off very well on the first day with Becky winning the PSG riding Josie’s Don Angelo with a fantastc score of 72.37% against some extremely tough competition. Then Becky and Caluna went on to get a very respectable 70.31% and 3rd place in the Inter 11.

Looking forward to competing Donald on the second day added to the huge disappointment when they found Donald in the stable with a swollen hind leg and bearly being able to put any weight on it. They immediately got the Hartpury vet on site to have a look and see if he could find out what could be wrong. It eventually came about that he could see a tiny plaiting needle head stuck in Donald’s frog which must have been dropped in the bed by a previous competitor. In order not to cause any possible  further damage it was decided to xray the foot and see where exactly the needle had buried itself. Luckily (if you look at it that way!) the needle had gone straight up and slightly back missing any vital tendons, ligaments and burseries. The vet was able to pull the needle straight out and treat the foot very carefully not allowing any bacteria to get into the frog as this could be fatal.

It was poulitced, cleaned and bandaged for 2 weeks and Donald was given some seriously strong antibiotics to clear any possible infection he could have and luckily Donald is now returning to work and looking as amazing as ever!

IMG_0516

The moral of the story is, if you are ever aware of dropping anything dangerous in the stable and cannot find it, clear ALL the bedding out as it can cause serious or fatal harm to your horse or somebody elses. Plaiting needles stuck in horses feet is more common than you would think with our vet alone having dealt with 7 previous cases!

The mood picked up slightly with Becky and Caluna taking part in the Grand Prix scoring 68.4% and 2nd place which is a wonderful result as Caluna is not the biggest, flashiest horse on the scene but can definately hold her own against them!

Moving on from that Becky then travelled back down to Hartpury with her team of young horses – Carinsio, Eleanor and Eaimbry Eleonora.

One of the first competitors in the huge 4 year old young horse class was Becky and Eleanor who ended up with a great score of 81.2% and 9th place – having only been out to 3 shows this was a super result! (She is on our horses for sale page if anyone is interested!) Towards the middle of the class Becky then competed Eaimbry Eleonora, again a mistake free test and impeccable behaviour to get them 6th place and 82.4% – an exciting future is ahead for both these lovely mares.

Carinsio then took the stage for the 6 year old young horse class. In his usual fashion he wowed both the spectators and judges with his amazing ability. Unfortunately he was just pipped to the winning post by Louise Davison and Carilla. Both horses were through to the Gala evening where they could strut there stuff in front of the 100s of spectators – we of course are bias but I am sure people made their own minds up on their favourite 🙂

New Sponsor!

We are extremely pleased and excited to announce Becky’s new Sponsor.

IN THE MOOD FOR DRESSAGE!

Childéric Saddles UK is proud to announce that they will now be supporting Yorkshire based dressage rider Becky Moody.

Tricia Bracegirdle, senior saddle technician for the French saddle brand said:

“We initially went to fit an existing client’s horse at the Moody’s yard and after Becky had ridden the horse in the saddle, she was so impressed that she approached us with a view to us working together”

Becky is equally excited about the relationship:

‘The saddles are beautifully made, and they really ‘allow’ the rider to sit in the right way. They are very adaptable and can be made to fit even awkwardly shaped horses well. Tricia’s knowledge and attention to detail fill me with confidence that the saddle I get will allow me and my horse to perform at our best’

The Childéric Dressage Saddle Collection offers a completely bespoke approach to fitting both horse and rider. Becky is the first international dressage rider for the company and joins other high profile riders, including top eventers Gemma Tattersall and Badminton winner Jonathan ‘Jock’ Paget.

A Great Team Day @ Manor Grange

On Saturday we took 8 horses with several clients from the yard, plus Linzi and Charlotte to Manor Grange to begin qualification towards the Winters! It was glorious sunshine and absolutely boiling, I had a lovely day topping up my tan whilst everyone else sweated profusely whilst riding haha!

It was a successful day for all, not just score related but more in an experience and confidence giving way, especially for Charlotte riding Chin (only her 2nd ever dressage test) and won her scetion 🙂 Jo riding her own Wattie competing him for the first time, pulling off a lovely 2nd test but unfortunately the judge did not reward them for this and marked it the same as the first test which was not as confident, luckily we were all there to give our opinion on how it should have been marked 🙂 Sue competed Jordi, again only for the second time and the legend that Jordi is they pulled off a good, mistake free test!

Becky rode Diane Vardy’s Nico in the first Medium to try and ‘educate’ him as he can be very spooky, he was a good boy and then Diane rode him in the second test. Again  it was a nice test, with lovely moments. Linzi and Kwad competed in the PSG, by this time it was extremely hot, and both Linzi and Kwad were feeling the heat! Still a very good test earning 64+% with a couple of mistakes so not bad at all 🙂 Becky then competed Karen Holmes’ Westhill’s Jasper B in the PSG and Inter 1, just his second time out with Becky and already a great improvement. He is a very striking and exciting horse!
